CD1 VIVA LA TARANTA

“VIVA LA TARANTA” produced by and featuring Phil Manzanera is a selection of 12 songs recorded live during a four hour live RAI broadcast of the 2015 La Notte della Taranta held in Malpignano, Southern Italy on 22 August. The songs are a reimagining by Manzanera of the traditional music of the Salento region mixed with music from the concert guests and the Orchestra Popolare.

Artists performing at La Notte della Taranta 2015 were: Ligabue, Paul Simonon, Tony Allen, Anna Phoebe, Raul Rodriguez and Andrea Echeverri with the Orchestra Popolare under the direction of PHIL MANZANERA.

It was a pleasure to work with so many great musicians and to celebrate the Salento traditions expressed through Pizzica and the other unique music of the region. “

CD2 VIVA LA TARANTA – LA NOTTE DELLE STELLE

“VIVA LA TARANTA –LA NOTTE DELLE STELLE, produced by and featuring Phil Manzanera Is a cd comprised of just the songs performed by of the invited guests on the night of La Notte della Taranta on the 22 August 2015, in front of an audience of 200,000.Their own compositions were adapted to the Salentino sytle by Phil Manzanera. From the Afrobeat of Tony Allen to the Prog Rock of Ana Phoebe , from the Colombian merengue/rock of Andrea Echeverri to the Rhumba Flamenca of Raul Rodriguez and from the Italian rock to british rock of Ligabue and Manzanera this album shows the adaptability of the genfe.

“VIVA LA TARANTA-La Musica Salentina” produced by and featuring Phil Manzanera is a cd which demonstrates the variety of the music from the Salentino area. The songs are a reimagining by Manzanera of the traditional music of the Salento region played by the Orchestra Popolare of La Notte della Taranta.
