Phil’s Gallery studio updated

Built by in 2000, Gallery Studios is based in
Queens Park, West London. The studio has just finished an extensive renovation to
make it fit for purpose for contemporary methods of working, including the
ability to mix in Dolby Atmos using the professional Airsound system.

Gallery is a musician’s studio:

“Having spent many hours in Studios all over the world, I had a very clear idea of
what was important in recording and in the recording environment. It’s simple,
it’s psychological, if you’re happy you record well and everything is easy.
Daylight, good architectural design, an artistic creative atmosphere, state of the
art technology, the best of analogue and vintage equipment and good food!

Musicians spend many long days and nights in a studio and I’ve always felt it
important to create a friendly atmosphere, where they can relax between takes
and generally feel that the place is restful and reassuring – this may seem a
statement of the obvious but it still amazes me how often in studios there is
nowhere to sit. At Gallery we aim to make life challenging but do everything we
can to help creative forces flow.

At Gallery we have a team of engineers whose considerable talents we can call
upon. Gallery engineers are encouraged to follow the George Martin school of
recording – never trust machines too faithfully, let your ears always be the judge,
remember that while our technology – whether analogue or digital – is the very
best and reliable, it is the means not an end in itself. I suppose that is also the
Manzanera humanistic philosophy of recording.“
